Conviction Coaching

The Conviction Philosophy

The confidence to act authentically

Conviction is the quality of acting with confidence, authenticity and commitment. It emerges when intrinsic motivation, values and core qualities are aligned. It enables people to stop acting based on external drivers and expectations and begin acting based on inner strengths.

Conviction gives people the confidence to act authentically and the courage to make tough decisions. The greatest barriers to conviction and personal growth are rarely intelligence, education or talent. More often these barriers exist below the surface:

  • —The wrong motivations that drive our behavior and decisions.
  • —Unawareness of our core qualities.
  • —Limiting beliefs about ourselves and others.
  • —Misinterpretation of other people’s expectations and behavior.

When these barriers are overcome, people become stronger professionals, better colleagues, more authentic leaders or simply nicer people to be around. Conviction Coaching is built on five perspectives about how people grow, develop and can maximize their potential.

01

People have more potential than they realise.

People are capable of more than they think, because they often underestimate what is already within them. Growth is rarely about adding something new. It is about uncovering and developing what is already there.

02

Talent is rarely the limiting factor.

Most professionals do not struggle because they lack intelligence or ability. They get stuck because they are disconnected from their values, intrinsic motivation, and core qualities, and held back by limiting beliefs.

03

Intrinsic motivation is our most sustainable source of energy.

Extrinsic motivation - status, money, recognition, expectations and success - can drive performance, but rarely creates lasting fulfilment. Intrinsic motivation is different. It reflects what genuinely energises us. It gives meaning to effort. It creates resilience. It makes growth sustainable. Coaching does not create intrinsic motivation. It helps people discover or reconnect with it.

04

Limiting beliefs disconnect people from their intrinsic motivation.

Over time, expectations and influence from others, habits and limiting beliefs can disconnect us from what genuinely drives us. We continue to function, but we stop flourishing. Real development starts when intrinsic motivation, values and empowering beliefs reinforce each other.

05

Lasting change requires new beliefs, followed by action.

When people develop new beliefs about themselves and consistently act upon them, new behaviour becomes sustainable. That is where meaningful and lasting change begins.
